Movie Reviews

Most of you probably know by now, that something AnTjuan and  I love to do is go to the theater and watch movies together. So I thought I would do a movie review post (since I have seen so many of them!). Click the movie title name and it will send you to a trailer for each movie.

The Heat:

I saw this movie with my friend Erin and it was exactly what I had expected. Not amazing but not horrible. It starts Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock. Both actresses play the type of roles they generally do in other movies. However, the two of them work well together  in a movie together. Now I will say, this is more of a renting movie. For those days you want to hang out with your girlfriends, eat some pizza, and rent a movie. Not necesarry to see in theaters.

Score: 6.5/10

White House Down:

This movie I had zero intentions of seeing. I had actually told Erin I did not want to see it because I thought it looked pretty cheesy and predictable. Well due to certain events, I ended up seeing it with AnTjuan unexpectedly. Maybe it is because I went in with low expectations, but I really enjoyed this movie. AnTjuan got a bit annoyed in parts because the strategies they would sometimes use didn't make any sense, but I just ignored it as movie logic (sometimes you just have to do that!!). I thought Channing Tattum and Jamie Foxx worked really well together. I also liked the little girl in this movie. I would say this is a good movie to see on the big screen because it is an action movie. Most of the time the big car chases, fist fights and explosions tend to look and sound a bit better in a movie theater. I was correct in my assumption that it would be fairly predictable though.

Score: 7.5/10 *probably scored higher because I went in expecting it to be a 2/10*

Wolrd War Z:

This is another movie I had zero interest in seeing. I typically don't go running to the box office to buy a ticket for a end of the world/zombie type of movie. Basically what happened and how I ended up seeing this movie is Arlyn and AnTjuan were going to see it together, so I basically tagged along just to hang out with them. What I liked about this movie is they jump right into the action. They don't keep you waiting around and they are brutally honest about things. I liked that because in the end of the world, people aren't going to be nice. They will be selfish and they will be brunt. So they earned points for that. I also liked that the movie didn't drag on. It was the perfect time length for the story they were trying to tell. This to me was worth seeing in theaters.

Score: 8/10

I told you I have see a lot of movies.....so lets keep the reviews going!

Man of Steel
Yes, another Hollywood blockbuster about a superhero. While it may be predictable, I do enjoy these movies. My favorite movie of last summer was The Avengers. Doesn't get much better then that. We saw this movie in Imax, figured it was worth the price. Well the first five to ten minutes the movie did not have any sound. Which is a bit of a bummer when you get there an hour early to have the perfect seat, and pay so much to see it. Eventually they got the sound fixed and at the end of the movie we were each given a free pass to see another Imax movie in the future. So they  made up for it.

Man of Steel was a darker version of Superman. Which was to be expected because of who made the film. I liked that it was a little bit darker and not a cheesy version of Superman, like all past attempts have been. This movie was exactly what I expected, in a good way. I would recommend seeing this in theaters, however Imax is not necessary.

Score: 8/10

This Is The End:

Lets start off by saying my favorite character in this movie was Michael Cera. The rest of the movie is good, but a bit over the top. I cannot say I am surprised by that though after looking over the cast. This movie would have been a lot better if they had cut off 30/40 minutes of screen time. At a certain point it just dragged on. Another thing with this movie is a lot of the funniest parts, are shared in the trailers. I would maybe save this for Redbox....don't pay too much to see it.

Score: 5.5/10

Now You See Me:

Morgan Freeman.......who doesn't love to see him a in a movie, right!? With that being said, he was not the main character but does play a big role in the film. This movie is about magicians who are trying to shake up the way things are done. Good movie, good concept. However (**SPOILER ALERT****) I do not like how this movie ends. They trap Morgan Freeman into serving a lifetime in prison. Which AnTjuan and I did not see as necessary or  follow the magicians code of conducts. I see this as a Redbox movie.

Score: 6.5/10 *Could have gone higher if ending for Morgan Freeman was different*

Hangover Part 3:

Follows the typically Hangover style, better then Hangover 2, can't touch the original Hangover. Enough Said. Perfectly fine to rent at home.

Score: 7/10 *could have gone higher if they didn't kill a Giraffe in the movie. You just don't do that to my favorite animal!! I am actually kidding, even with giraffe killing a 7/10 is still generous.

That brings my movie review time to an end! Have you seen any of these? Do you agree or disagree with my ratings? Have you seen any that I haven't? If so, what would you recommend!?
