Weddings = $$$

Something I love, and always have loved is weddings. I find them very romantic and I think it is amazing to start of your new married life close to the ones you love there to watch it. I have watched countless hours of wedding shows, and even considered being a wedding planner at one time.

This being said I had always imagined having a big wedding. Filled with Diamonds, hundreds of roses, a beautiful wedding dress and a beautiful wedding venue. Everyone in my family and all of my friends have been aware of that. Well out of curiosity I have been doing research on how much weddings cost on average. Did you know in 2012 the average cost of a wedding in America was $27,021. Anything related to the word "wedding" automatically drives the cost up. If you say bouquet it will be much cheaper, then if you say wedding bouquet. People know they can mark up the price in the wedding industry, because majority of brides will pay whatever they need to in order to have that perfect wedding.

Researching has made me realize, the dream wedding I have in my head most likely won't happen. I certainly could not afford a wedding even half the cost of the American Average. Not to mention that price is for the wedding alone, did you forget about the cost of honeymoons? That average cost in 2012 for Americans was $4,466. Which brings the total cost of an average American wedding and honeymoon to $31,487. Which is only a few thousand short of what a teacher in America makes per year. Insane right?

So now, I need to start researching deeper. See what tools can be used to make weddings cheaper, so by the time I do get engaged in the future I know what wedding & honeymoon I can not only enjoy, but afford. Just food for thought, brought to you courtesy of me watching Say Yes To The Dress on Neflix. ;)

May I add the shows on television only help play a part in making those huge glorified weddings, seem within arms reach. Have to pay attention to you own wants and own needs and go from there.
